DeWALT has recently introduced their new 12″ Double Bevel Sliding Compound Mitre Saw (DWS780).  It seems to have some improvements over the earlier DeWALT DW718 model.  Improved cutting capacity, from 6-1/2″ vertical capacity to 6-3/4″ with baseboard against fence.  Crown molding vertically nested capacity has increased from 6-5/8″ to 7-1/2″.  Their crown molding lying flat capacity has gone from 11-1/4″ to 13-3/4″ and they’ve improved their dust collection ability to be more than an afterthought.

The most interesting addition to this saw is actually the included light.  It shines itself on both sides of the blade, leaving a shadow where the blade is going to cut.  This is great for telling you exactly what is going to be removed with each cut.  If you have a DeWALT DW718 mitre saw, you can order the light DWS7085 as a retro-fit for it.  It also fits the DW713, DW715 and DW716 mitre saws.
