Tool Donation Drive for KMS Tools For The World

KMS Tools is having a tool drive at our KMS Tools Edmonton West store on May 16!  KMS Tools accepts donations of good working tools all year round for our Tools for the World program, with an immediate need right now to fill two containers. The first container is scheduled to ship in June to Honduras and the second to Somalia later this summer.

Get your spring cleaning on, and drop by from 9am-5pm for this special tool donation drive, with special guest David McAuley, (@theeupcycler)!  He’ll be on-site in the morning for a meet-and-greet and to collect empty gas and propane tanks. He will also be donating two pallets of tools himself to the cause!

Clean out your garage or shop for a cause!  The best items to donate are hand tools, and working corded power tools, but any tool or piece of equipment that can be used here, can also be used in remote communities all over the world, from automotive equipment, to garden tools, carpentry tools, to plumbing!

Tools for the World is a KMS Tools charity initiative launched in 2009 to help those in need globally, by repurposing tools and equipment that might otherwise just be taking up space in your garage, or end up in the landfill. Originally sparked by a request for disaster relief in Cuba, the program quickly expanded and has served more than 45 countries across the globe!

When we collect used tools from you, our generous customers, we are able to support disaster relief, aid in the construction and maintenance of essential infrastructure like hospitals and schools, play a pivotal part in vocational training through trades schools, and create job opportunities for entire villages!  We strive to serve people around the world, turning potential waste into an opportunity to build better communities.

Good working tools and equipment can be dropped off at any KMS Tools location during store hours, all year round!  We’ll make sure they get into the hands of people that need them most.

Sending Tools All Over the World!

Through partnering with aid organizations such as World Vision and Compassionate Resource Warehouse, your donated tools have contributed to numerous initiatives since 2009.  Some of the highlights include:
In 2025, the 40’ container we sent through World Vision arrived at Burao Technical School in Somalia for technical training. Your generous donations of circular saws, table saws, hammers, drills, etc, all help to empower the students, and shape their employment future.

Poland and Ukraine received your donated tools in 2022 for refugee centers and rebuilding. Tools also went to Burundi for a new training center, Zimbabwe for new and existing training centers, and Somalia for other building and maintenance projects that year.

Through Compassionate Resource Warehouse, in 2018 we helped with the building of carpentry shops and disaster aid centers by sending a total of 88 pallets to Belarus, Costa Rica, Cuba, The Gambia, Ghana, Haiti, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Yemen, and Zimbabwe!

A skid of new and used tools that we had shipped in early 2018 to war-torn Yemen safely arrived that August, shortly before the port was destroyed by bombs.

In 2016 we broke the mold, and not only sent 70 skids of tools around the globe, but also accepted donations for Fort McMurray after a wildfire swept through the community, forcing 53,000 residents to be displaced, and start again.

And with your continued donations, and the support of our valuable partner organizations, and shipping companies, there is no end in sight to the lives that will be changed!

Please consider letting your old tools give new hope!
