Sometimes sanding can seem like a “necessary evil”. Depending on the job it can make or break the project or make or break you. Sanders have come a long way in the last few years. Experts at Bosch note that with 27 bones, 33 muscles and 22 moving axes, the hand is the most complex of all human appendages. With the popularity of these high-vibration tools, it is sure to take a toll on your body.
So the solution now is creating tools that have a lower vibration. Bosch’s new offering to the market is the ROS65VC-5. This is a 3.3-Amp Sander with variable speed dial – To match speed to work piece and task. It employs a new Vibration Control (Bosch-exclusive) which separates the motor from the body with a suspension system to minimize vibration for superior handling and maximum comfort. This in part achieved by the body of the tool resting on eight neoprene- pads.
Other features include two dust collection systems: A micro filter dust canister with integrated paper filter and screw-off cap or vacuum hose connection with airflow control. The sander also sports a high-performance soft micro-cellular hook-&-loop backing pad that conforms to many contours and uses an integrated pad dampening system which helps prevent swirl marks for consistent fine finish. This sander is also built with rugged die-cast aluminum gear housing with exclusive dual-bearing pad mount.
All the specs don’t mean anything unless it runs smooth and is versatile enough for fast stock removal or a smooth, well-blended finish. It does both very well. We had a demo setup at our Wood show in October and everyone that tried it was impressed with the finish it produced and was surprised by how smooth the machine ran. This sander would be great for anyone from homeowner to contractors. All-in-all another solid product from a company known for their quality sanders.
