DeWALT announces new DWS780 12″ Double Bevel Sliding Compound Mitre Saw
DeWALT has recently introduced their new 12″ Double Bevel Sliding Compound Mitre Saw (DWS780). It seems to have some improvements over the earlier DeWALT DW718 model. Improved cutting capacity, from 6-1/2″ vertical capacity to 6-3/4″ with baseboard against fence. Crown molding vertically nested capacity has increased from 6-5/8″ to 7-1/2″. Their crown molding lying flat capacity has gone from 11-1/4″ to 13-3/4″ and they’ve improved their dust collection ability to be more than an afterthought.

The Festool 571810 RO 150 FEQ Rotex Sander
Last week 20 KMS Tools employees went through the Festool 101 training with instructor Steve Bace. Let me tell you, this guy really knows his stuff. He has a history in the solid surface industry, so sanding is his specialty. In less than 5 minutes he took this old beat up cutting board and refinished it to look like new. It was very impressive to say the least.

Milwaukee M12 12V Heated Jackets (Red 2331, Camouflage 2332 & Black 2336) – Pre-Order Now
Milwaukee came around several months ago with one of their red 12V 2331 heated jackets, and to be honest, I was very surprised at the quality and impressive control and level of heat provided with this jacket. Just recently Milwaukee released the same jacket in camouflage (2332) and black (2336). I’ve been told that the black will only be released into the Canadian market and are limited as they will only be available until later this year. All Jackets come in S, M, L, XL, XXL & XXXL. We will be stocking the red and camouflage version in a tool only (no battery or charger), and all three in the kit version with one 12V M12 battery and 30-minute charger.
Festool Giveaways at www.FestoolSweepstakes.com
Seriously, Festool is in fact giving away a free tool what looks like every month. Go to www.festoolsweepstakes.com and sign up. Last month they gave away a Festool DOMINO Joiner, and the month before a Festool TS 55 Track Saw, both of which I did not win. Hopefully one of you guys will bring a new Festool tool home in the coming months so you can find out why Festool is the top dog in power tools.
Festool – New to KMS Tools
Over the last couple weeks, there has been a huge buzz around KMS tools about our new line of woodworking related power tools. Festool is a German made high-end professional tool manufacturer centered around woodworking. The idea behind Festool’s “Faster, Easier, Smarter” slogan is selling you into a family, not just a tool. Festool sports an industry leading 1+2 Year Warranty (first year they pay for all of the shipping, the following two, you pay for one way). The Festool family revolves around four key pillars most tool companies overlook: Dust extraction, Multifunction Tables, Guide Rails & Systainers.

DeWalt announces 18V/20V-Peak Slide-On Style Li-Ion Battery System
At DeWALT’s annual Yellow Fusion event, they have unveiled a new 18V slide on Li-Ion battery system. For all of you guys already out there with their 18V system, they will not be dumping the current 18V Li-Ion and Ni-Cad XRP system. This is a very smart move for DeWALT in my opinion. Their current system was great as a stepping stone from their old XRP Ni-Cad system to Li-Ion and allowed customer to get all of the benefits of Li-Ion without having to replace the tools like other manufacturers have done. The down side to this is that their old pod style batteries suffered from contact problems due to the small size of the terminals they used. Going to a slide-style battery will fix this problem and provide even better ergonomics not available with a pod-style battery.

Makita SH01 10.8V/12V 3-3/8″ Trim Saw
A couple weeks ago we finally got the new Makita 12V Li-Ion trim saw in. Makita has been around in the 10.8V/12V Li-Ion category for a while now but they seem to really be treading lightly with this line. For the rest of this article, I’ll be calling it 12V as Makita has now switched over to the 12V stickers like everyone else.
